Never having had the opportunity to study art at school, Carol Ann always had a keen interest and love of art and spent many years observing, dreaming and creating in her mind the scenes and images she commits to canvas today. Originally working in pencil, she quickly moved to acrylic, pastel, watercolour and then into oils which are now her primary medium.
Primarily self taught, after having learned the basic techniques, she is of the opinion that creativity is either present or not and that talent can not be taught - it can be nurtured and nourished, but definitely not taught!
Although changing and developing all the time, her theme is always one of colour, light and atmosphere. Without these three elements, she considers a painting of value cannot exist. By committing her dreams and unwritten poetry to canvas, she endeavours to lift the heart and touch the soul of the viewer.
