Jim Furlong paints several hours a day, evenings and weekends; every< chance he gets. Painting brings people and places near him. He is inspired by the Ireland that was and is changing, particularly the "characters". He is encouraged to record those soon to be a lost generation, those who have the courage to grow old, and are content to be
themselves. He sees each face as a landscape, weathering the hills and valleys of life.
He works in pencil, charcoil and oil on canvas and would be delighted to be able to paint like John McGahern writes.
