Annemarie Bourke
is a full time artist who has sold paintings successfully to collectors in Europe, America and all over Ireland. A self taught artist, she paints in watercolour, oil and pastel, allowing the subject to dictate the medium and the treatment that will do it justice.
She is inspired not so much by the subject, but by the effect of the light as it hits it. "one can paint the same subject many times, at different times of day or different times of the year. The subject is changing because the light is changing".
Her favourite medium is watercolour, enjoying the excitement that she derives from painting with a medium cover over which one can never have complete control. She has been painting and drawing since she was eight and considers herself fortunate that her obsession has become her reputation.
